£29m Santiago Gimenez move to Nottingham Forest collapses as new club enter talks

Santiago Gimenez has rejected a move to Nottingham Forest despite them matching Feyenoord’s asking price.

Nottingham Forest have been in the market for a new centre-forward this summer and they had their eyes on both Eddie Nketiah and Santiago Gimenez.

Forest’s move for Nketiah collapsed after a breakdown in talks with Arsenal, with the 25-year-old demanding a significant wage to move to the City Ground.

Nketiah has now agreed terms with Crystal Palace and so Forest set their sights firmly on Gimenez.

Forest had agreed a £29million fee for Gimenez and a plane was waiting at Rotterdam airport to fly him to England for a medical.

However, the deal has fallen apart a new team has now entered talks.

German champions Bayer Leverkusen have entered talks for Gimenez and the player is said to be very keen on a move to the Bundesliga giants.

“There is the Bundesliga, with an important team that is in fashion, with a coach that everyone likes, who speaks Spanish, who dresses in black and red. Santi Gimenez likes that team a lot, but they have to wait for a player to be sold,” said Daniel Reyes on FOX Gol Mundial.
