‘You’ve seen’: Frank Lampard claims Everton now have a genuinely ‘world-class’ player in their squad

Everton manager Frank Lampard believes the club have signed a ‘world-class’ player in midfielder Idrissa Gueye.

One of those he highlighted was Gueye, who returned to Goodison Park for a second spell from Paris Saint-Germain.

Lampard has already expressed how happy he is to have Gueye back, and gave him his second debut in the Merseyside Derby.

Everton have revolutionised their midfield this summer, bringing in several new recruits.

Amadou Onana also arrived from France, , while James Garner was also brought in from Manchester United.

The three new signings will have to shift Alex Iwobi out of the side.

The Nigerian has enjoyed a brilliant start to the season in his new role in central midfield.

Iwobi was nominated for September’s Premier League Player of the Month award.

However, Lampard will be keen to bring the ‘’ Gueye into the Everton side very soon.

Everton have a world-class player in Gueye

Everton were first offered the chance to sign Gueye in July, but only got a deal over the line for the Senegalese international in the final days of the transfer window.

It’s taken time for Gueye to get up to full fitness after being frozen out at PSG.

However, he played the full 90 minutes against West Ham in Everton’s first league win of the season.

“Our new signings have helped make a difference to how we are playing.”

“Gana brings quality and experience and a really nice manner.

“He’s another good lad to have around the training ground.

“He loves the club and wanted to come home and you’ve seen from his performances so far what he brings to the team.

“For me, he’s world-class but coming from France back to the Premier League after three years presents a lot of challenges – physicality, speed – so I think he’ll get even better for us.

“You saw the calmness and the sense of positioning off the ball against West Ham.

“The options and balance in my midfield are getting better now.”

Lampard will be hoping to secure back-to-back wins when they visit Southampton on Saturday.
