‘You’re not fit to wear the shirt’: Tottenham-linked player part of side hammered by their own fans after defeat last night
Reported Tottenham Hotspur target Sam Johnstone was a part of the West Bromwich Albion side that lost to Swansea City in front of the home fans in the Championship last night.
reported back at the end of December last year that Spurs are keen to sign the Englishman who was fantastic for the Baggies last season even though they got relegated.
Johnstone was heavily linked with a number of clubs last year but no move materialised. However, he is almost guaranteed to leave West Brom this summer as his contract will expire and he’ll be a free agent.
The Spurs target started for the Baggies yesterday but he and his teammates received an earful from frustrated West Brom fans.

Steve Bruce’s Baggies hosted Swansea at the Hawthorns last night and fans expected their side to come away with a win against the Welsh club who were eight points below them before the game.
However, it was one of those nights for Bruce as his side simply could not get going.
Joel Piroe and Cyrus Christie scored late in the game to give Swansea a well-deserved win but Baggies fans were just not happy with Bruce and the players after what is now just one point from a possible 21 and just one goal scored in 10-and-a-half hours of football.
“You’re not fit to wear the shirt,” the home fans at Johnstone and his teammates, who have been really poor this term.
Should Spurs sign Johnstone?
Tottenham currently have Hugo Lloris as their number one. Pierluigi Gollini is only on loan and although Spurs have the option of signing him on a permanent deal in the summer, they are unlikely to take it up.
As a result, Antonio Conte will have to dive into the transfer market to sign a new goalkeeper and Johnstone really wouldn’t be a bad signing.
He’s an England international, has Premier League experience and he’s still only 28, which is extremely young for a goalkeeper.
To make the deal a lot sweeter, Johnstone will be available on a free transfer as well in the summer and Spurs should seriously consider signing him before the start of next season.
