Youngster could actually save Liverpool millions this summer after what happened on Friday
Arne Slot seems likely to bring a new central defender to Liverpool this summer.
There are rumours circulating that Liverpool like Marc Guehi – who has a £60m price tag – and the Crystal Palace No.6 is keen on a move to Anfield.
TBR Football understand Liverpool have also been watching Jorrel Hato of Ajax – the £40m Netherlands international who is good friends with Ryan Gravenberch.
However, Liverpool could save themselves millions on a new centre-back this summer if Stefan Bajcetic keeps performing like he did for Las Palmas on Friday.
Arne Slot surely impressed by how Stefan Bajcetic performed at centre-back
With Ibrahima Konate reportedly tempted by PSG, and Jarell Quansah seemingly unfancied by Slot, it does feel as if a new centre-back may be arriving at Anfield this summer.
That was, however, before Bajcetic stepped up for Las Palmas on Friday.

After Scott McKenna was dismissed in just the 29th minute, the Liverpool loanee – typically a central midfielder – was entrusted to step into the heart of the backline, a task he dealt with admirably.
In what turned into something of a backs-against-the-wall affair, Bajcetic registered six clearances, two interceptions and two tackles, including a crucial last man challenge, as well as one block.
The 20-year-old helped Las Palmas preserve their 1-0 lead until the 63rd minute, but still managed to ensure his side escaped with a crucial point, which keeps them outside of the relegation zone on goal difference.
Interestingly, Liverpool fans feel Slot should keep Bajcetic around after witnessing his impressive display.

Brilliant first-time finish by the 20-year-old to pull a goal back against Mallorca 👏
Of course, we are by no means suggesting the Dutchman should totally abandon plans to sign a new centre-back and rely solely on the young Spaniard, on the basis of one standout performance, but should this become a theme at Las Palmas between now and the end of the campaign, it is certainly going to give those at Liverpool food for thought.
What Jurgen Klopp said about Stefan Bajcetic
Bajcetic has already made a name for himself at Anfield, with injuries last season unfortunately stunting his progress.
The Vigo-born wonderkid shone in the 2022/23 campaign for Liverpool in a No.6 role, even impressing against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League, with Jurgen Klopp growing to adore Bajcetic.

In February 2023, the German said: “Top talent, super player. Played really good for us so far. Since he is with us it is a pure joy to work with him.
“I think the mix of Serbia and Spain is a good one for football. If you meet him he is a top, intelligent boy and it is a joy to work together.”
