‘You could see’… Michail Antonio thinks £17m Man United player was getting really annoyed vs Tottenham

West Ham striker Michail Antonio thinks Christian Eriksen was ‘frustrated’ during Manchester United’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Despite being under the cosh for large periods of the game, Man United put in an improved display against Spurs over the weekend.

Erik ten Hag’s side looked dangerous going forward and could have even picked up all three points at the end as Scott McTominay went close.

The display should encourage Ten Hag after his attacking players have struggled this term. Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford particularly caught the eye, with both players getting on the scoresheet.

But Christian Eriksen endured a difficult afternoon, with Tottenham overrunning United in midfield.

The Dane was replaced by McTominay just before the hour mark and Michail Antonio believes Eriksen was visibly frustrated on the day.

Speaking on , Antonio claimed that Eriksen looked ‘frustrated’ due to United’s tendency to go long during Sunday’s game.

“I actually watched this game and Tottenham had a lot of possession but United actually impressed me,” the Hammers striker said. “I’m not going to lie. They were playing some good football.

“A lot of the time there was some rash play, where they just kept kicking it away when they were trying to play, you could see Eriksen getting a bit frustrated in midfield.

“But Rashford has scored now, Rasmus Hojlund scored an absolute banger, just put his foot through it. It was a very good game, end to end, both teams going for it. It was really enjoyable.”

Eriksen has struggled to make an impact at United this season and failed to get into the game on Sunday.

The 31-year-old has netted just one goal and provided one assist in 15 league games. But Ten Hag has been criticised due to United’s pragmatic brand of football and that’s not exactly the style of play that suits Eriksen.

He was at his best during his time at Spurs, where the midfielder played in an attacking side before moving to Inter Milan for in January 2020.
