Yoane Wissa takes new action to escalate his Brentford frustration as Newcastle turn to Benjamin Sesko

Yoane Wissa has made it clear to Brentford that he wants to explore options away from the club this summer.

After Newcastle bid for the striker earlier this summer, Wissa is refusing to train as he tries to force a move through.

However, having , Brentford have thus far stood firm.

Now, following news that Newcastle have launched an offer for Benjamin Sesko, Wissa has taken another action to emphasise his frustration.

Yoane Wissa doesn’t travel with Brentford squad for pre-season friendly at QPR

Brentford travelled to QPR on Saturday afternoon as they continued their pre-season preparations under Keith Andrews.

However, Wissa didn’t join his Bees teammates in making the short trip across London to Loftus Road.

As reported by Sky Sports News’ Gary Cotterill, Wissa “hasn’t turned up for this friendly. We went out to see the team bus arrive… and he wasn’t amongst them.”

Cotterill continued that he “had it confirmed that [Wissa] won’t be travelling here today by any other means, either, to be even watching this game here at Loftus Road.”

“There was speculation that he might not turn up after leaving the Portugal summer training camp early, [and] after turning up for training on Thursday at the Brentford training ground, but not, we understand, actually doing any training with the first team.”

Considering Loftus Road is all of four miles away from Brentford, it reinforces just how frustrated Wissa is with his current predicament.

Yoane Wissa would be a ‘very good signing’ because of his Premier League experience, according to Clinton Morrison

Whether Newcastle’s bid for Sesko prevents the Magpies from going back for Wissa remains to be seen.

According to Clinton Morrison, however, Eddie Howe’s side would be wise to bring the 28-year-old in.

Speaking on Gillette Soccer Saturday about Sesko and Wissa, Morrison said: “[Sesko] is a good striker. But do we know if he can come to the Premier League and hit the ground running? That’s what we’re going to need to have a look at.

“We’ve seen some of his goals. He can finish. He scores all kinds of goals.

“But [the Bundesliga] is a different league to the Premier League. The Premier League is the best League.”

It was for this reason of having Premier League experience that Morrison then gave his view that Wissa would be “a very good signing, if [Newcastle] can get him.”

At present, Sesko looks like the Magpies’ main target, but with the Slovenian still to decide between Newcastle and Manchester United, Eddie Howe’s side could still pivot back to Wissa as the window drags on.
