Yoane Wissa has already made stance clear on Newcastle move as Brentford reject opening bid

TBR Football understands that Newcastle United have seen an opening bid of over £25 million rejected by Brentford for Yoane Wissa.

As revealed last week by TBR Football, Newcastle had started talks to sign Wissa, and they are now ready to step up their efforts to sign him.

The striker just enjoyed a brilliant season at Brentford as he netted 19 Premier League goals and formed a lethal partnership with Bryan Mbeumo, who has just joined Man United.

The Tyneside club are looking to bring in another striker who can play alongside and deputise for Alexander Isak, following the departure of Callum Wilson.

The 28-year-old is a player whom they hold a strong admiration for, and they are now prepared to submit their first offer for him.

Sources: Yoane Wissa tells Brentford he wants to leave

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey can confirm that Yoane Wissa had already told Brentford that he wants to leave, before Newcastle’s opening bid was rejected.

We are told The Magpies are now readying a second offer which is set to be in excess of £30million.

TBR Football has already revealed that whilst the Bees value Wissa at around £50 million, there is a belief that he could eventually leave for £40 million.

Bailey told TBR Football: “We are told that Newcastle’s opening bid is in excess of £25million, but Brentford were quick to say no. Newcastle will return, but Tottenham and Nottingham Forest have also had talks.

“As it stands, Brentford are insisting they don’t want to sell, but we understand that Wissa has already made it clear to Brentford he wants to leave. Wissa, whilst having the clear connection with Spurs boss Thomas Frank, is open to a Newcastle move.”

19 goals in the Premier League placed him as the league’s sixth highest goal scorer last term, and he was just four goals behind Isak.

Alan Shearer is a fan of Wissa, having listed him as an honourable mention in his Premier League team of the season.

However, Newcastle are not the only club in the running to sign the Congolese forward, as Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur are also keen on him.

Thomas Frank thinks Wissa wants Tottenham, as TBR Football revealed, having previously done so well under his tutelage.

But the Magpies are now pushing to sign Wissa, and their opening bid is soon expected to arrive at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Newcastle having issues with Alexander Isak’s contract demand

Isak’s future remains uncertain despite Liverpool having just agreed a deal to sign Hugo Ekitike from Frankfurt for around £78 million.

TBR Football understands Isak wants £300k-per-week to commit his future to St James’ Park, but the club are unable to reach that figure.

Newcastle are open to giving him closer to £200k-per-week, which would already exceed Bruno Guimaraes’ £150k-per-week.

The Swedish international wants a deal which reflects his value as one of the most deadly strikers in Europe.

He has interest still from the Saudi Pro League, but he is unwilling to move to the Middle East at this moment in his career.
