Yannick Bolasie’s special relationship with Albert Adomah could give Aston Villa a frightening attack

Aston Villa will no doubt feel like they picked up a coup in the signature of Yannick Bolasie this week. For a while now it seemed the DR Congo winger would head to Middlesbrough with Everton team-mate Mo Besic. He has an excellent relationship with the Boro boss Tony Pulis after their time working together at Crystal Palace.

But what people did not realise, was that Bolasie has an even closer relationship with one of Aston Villa’s players.

He and Albert Adomah have played together twice before. Both featured in the lower leagues with Barnet and even spent time together at Bristol City. Bolasie himself alluded to this fact He dubbed the Villa winger ‘Uncle Albert’, citing lifts to training in London and helping with somewhere to stay in the West Country as reasons for their closeness.

Both players are of African heritage who spent much of their youth in and around London, so have similar backgrounds and stories – which can only help solidify the bond.

Aston Villa fans will just hope they form such a good partnership in attack for the rest of the season. Bolasie from the left and Adomah from the right could easily be a Premier League wing system. Aston Villa must not waste it.
