Yannick Bolasie must look at Robert Snodgrass for inspiration

It appears that Yannick Bolasie is set to join Aston Villa on loan for the rest of the season. The Everton winger has been told he is not in new manager Marco Silva’s plans for next term and was tasked with finding a new team before the end of the month. Middlesbrough and Aston Villa were both keen on the £25 million wide-man and he has decided the latter was the better fit. A deal should go ahead today, with Bolasie present at Aston Villa’s 2-2 draw with Brentford last night.

Bolasie, at 29-years-old, could not afford a season on the sidelines at Everton. He missed a year of action after joining the club with knee trouble so making a loan exit makes perfect sense for a man who loves to play football.

He should also not view this necessarily as a step backward but as an opportunity to get back to his best.

If he is looking for inspiration, then the wing wizard Aston Villa had on loan last season is the perfect example.

Robert Snodgrass was in a similar boat to Bolasie last summer. Swiftly approaching 30 and with no chance of first-team football at West Ham. He decided to head out to Aston Villa. The Scotland international had a great campaign, which led to a productive pre-season and he is now back in the first-team fold at West Ham.

If Bolasie can go and find his best form at Villa Park then perhaps his future at Everton may not be so bleak.
