Six months since leaving Liverpool, 30-year-old international is already on the move again

However, just six months down the line, it seems Liverpool and Klopp were right to let Shaqiri go. That’s because according to , Shaqiri is nearing a move to the MLS with Chicago Fire. It means the Swiss star will be leaving Lyon just six months into what has proven to be a nightmare period.

For Liverpool, though, it simply adds more justification to another deal that Michael Edwards and his team got right.
Shaqiri made appearances overall for Lyon, scoring just the two goals. Despite the amount of appearances made, his time in France has been deemed a failure overall by local media and Lyon fans.

Is there anything Liverpool do in the market that goes wrong? It certainly doesn’t seem that way at the moment.
Bringing in nearly £10m for Shaqiri has proven a masterstroke and the former winger has shown really that he was never quite up to the job at Anfield.
For now, Liverpool can simply sit back and admire a job well done. Shaqiri, meanwhile, must ask some questions of himself and what’s gone wrong. On the other hand, this is a major coup for the MLS.
