Xavi Simons uses just one word to describe Jeremie Frimpong’s Liverpool move
Liverpool have wasted no time in making their first signing of the summer transfer window as they announced Jeremie Frimpong’s arrival on Friday.
Liverpool have quickly brought in a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, who will be joining Real Madrid early to play at the Club World Cup.
The Reds have reportedly paid Bayer Leverkusen €35million (£29.5million) to sign Jeremie Frimpong on a five-year contract.
Netherlands teammate Xavi Simons, who plays for Leverkusen’s rivals RB Leipzig, left a comment on social media describing Frimpong’s move in one word.

Xavi Simons praises Jeremie Frimpong for ‘deserved’ Liverpool move
As is often the case nowadays, new signing announcements are done jointly on the club’s Instagram page and the player’s personal account.
Liverpool and Frimpong shared a number of posts together, with one featuring a video of the player sending a message to his father and brother.
Simons was one of the players who posted a reply in the comments, simply writing “deserved”, along with three heart emojis.
The likes of Jay Spearing and Adebayo Akinfenwa also replied, the former posting an applause emoji and the latter writing “things you love to see” along with two fire emojis.

Jeremie Frimpong recalls playing in Bayer Leverkusen’s 4-0 loss to Liverpool in Champions League
Frimpong came up once against Liverpool while on Leverkusen’s books.
The Dutchman was in the starting XI for Leverkusen’s Champions League group-stage meeting with the Reds at Anfield on 5 November 2024.
Frimpong endured a torrid afternoon as Liverpool ran out 4-0 winners over the Bundesliga side – but this clearly did not put the Reds scouts off.
“I think this is the best stadium I played in when I was with Leverkusen,” Frimpong said about Liverpool’s ground.
“The atmosphere, the fans, the team as well. The whole package is great.”
Frimpong then admitted how hard he found it playing against the Reds that day as Luis Diaz scored a hat-trick and Cody Gakpo added a fourth.
“I don’t need to say too much about the quality [of Liverpool],” he said. “They won the league.
“For me, playing against Liverpool when I was in Leverkusen, really difficult. Really, really difficult.
“How can I say it? Obviously Leverkusen were still good but you can see that Liverpool is next level.”
