Xabi Alonso will push to sign 25-year-old if he becomes Liverpool’s next manager this summer
A report has named which player Xabi Alonso would love to sign at his next club, with Liverpool obviously considering an approach for the Bayer Leverkusen boss.
Xabi Alonso continues to win admirers for the work he is doing in Germany. Bayer Leverkusen look to have one hand on the Bundesliga trophy. They sit 10 points clear of Bayern Munich with eight games remaining in the top-flight.
Of course, it seems extremely likely that Liverpool will look into appointing the Spaniard this summer. Jurgen Klopp brought the football world to a standstill in January by announcing that he would leave Anfield at the end of this season.
Liverpool know all about Alonso’s contract. And it would be no surprise if he was an incredibly popular choice with the fans given the work he has done in Leverkusen, as well as his connection with the club.
It seems that Liverpool now know one target Alonso will push for if they manage to appoint him.
According to a report from the (24/3; page 67), Alonso will look to take Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba wherever he goes.
Liverpool target Xabi Alonso wants to sign Edmond Tapsoba for next club
Tapsoba has made 21 appearances for Leverkusen this season. Tottenham are eyeing Tapsoba ahead of the summer. The Sunday Mirror also suggests that Manchester United and Chelsea are admirers of the 25-year-old.

The report suggests that Liverpool would become big favourites to sign Tapsoba should they manage to appoint Alonso.
Reds likely to need another centre-back this summer
Liverpool obviously have some outstanding defenders in the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate. They also have players such as Joe Gomez and Jarell Quansah who have received plenty of minutes this season.
But with Joel Matip out of contract this summer, it would make sense to have their eye on reinforcements over the coming months.
Perhaps Alonso will feel that Tapsoba is perfect for the Reds if he steps into Klopp’s position this summer.
