‘Written in the stars’… Michail Antonio is certain he knows who Liverpool will appoint to replace Jurgen Klopp

West Ham striker Michail Antonio is convinced that Xabi Alonso will replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool this summer.

The former Liverpool midfielder has emerged as an early frontrunner to land the job after Jurgen Klopp calls time on his spell at Anfield at the end of the season. 

Many have already backed Xabi Alonso to succeed Klopp this summer after a brilliant spell with Bayer Leverkusen.

Indeed, Jamie Carragher admitted he would love to see Alonso return to Anfield while Jamie O’Hara has also labelled Alonso the ‘perfect’ Klopp replacement. 

Now, Michail Antonio is the latest to back the Spaniard for the role and believes a move to Merseyside is ‘written in the stars’. 

Antonio backs Alonso to land Liverpool job

Speaking on , Antonio shared why he believes Alonso will land the Liverpool job this summer. 

The West Ham star said: “There is only one person who I feel is going to feel those boots and that is going to be Alonso, isn’t it?

“If you think about it he has that clause in his contract that he’s allowed to leave for any of his old clubs and he didn’t play for small ones. It’s a bit coincidental that a month ago it was like Xabi Alonso has been unbelievable, he has a clause to go to his old club now, it looks like it is just written in the stars.”

It does feel like the obvious move for Liverpool at this moment in time, especially with Alonso’s close ties to the club. 

The 42-year-old has also done an exceptional job with Bayer Leverkusen in Germany, with his side leading the way in the Bundesliga.

It will be devastating for Liverpool fans to see Klopp depart after nine successful years in Merseyside. But should Alonso arrive as his replacement, supporters would undoubtedly be excited by this appointment.
