‘Wow’…Thierry Henry and Alan Shearer amazed by £34m Arsenal player last night

Thierry Henry and Alan Shearer were full of praise for Martin Odegaard for the cross which led to Declan Rice scoring the Arsenal winner in their stunning victory over Luton on Tuesday.

Henry and Shearer were speaking on as the Gunners scored in the 97th minute, with Rice heading home to send the away end at Kenilworth Road into a frenzy.

Declan Rice, of course, was the hero with yet another late goal. But it was the brilliance of Martin Odegaard which particularly caught the eye of Thierry Henry.

It was the Norwegian who found Rice with a delicious cross into the penalty area in overtime after stoppage-time. Arsenal needed someone to come up with a moment of composure. And it was their skipper who produced it.

Both Henry and Alan Shearer lauded Odegaard after the ball into the box from the Arsenal captain.

“The ball from Odegaard, wow,” Henry said on .

“It was a really intelligent, clever ball. They were knocking on the ball and they needed a quality ball and that is exactly what that is and it’s an even better header,” Shearer added.

It has been a mixed campaign for Odegaard so far. He played so well to lead their title challenge last season. And he had struggled to hit those same heights so far.

However, something appears to be clicking for the 24-year-old now. He scored a stunning goal against Wolves at the weekend. It was trademark Odegaard.

And the man stepped up when Arsenal needed someone to produce one more moment of class against Luton on Tuesday night.

Certainly, that victory is going to be remembered for a very long time – particularly if Arsenal go on and achieve something special this season.
