‘Wow’, ‘Tank’: Spurs fans react as Serge Aurier shines for Ivory Coast
Spurs fans were left both impressed and somewhat surprised yesterday as their often criticised right-back, Serge Aurier, put in a superb performance for Ivory Coast.
Aurier helped himself to a nice haul on the stat line. The Spurs star first opened the scoring, before laying on goals for former Leeds star Max Gradel and then Serge Kanon as he impressed.
The Spurs man’s performance helped Ivory Coast to a comfortable African Cup of Nations qualifying win over Niger and more or less cemented their place in the finals in 2022.
Of course, Auriers’ display caught the eye of a number of Spurs fans social media, with Twitter awash with comments from supporters expressing both their surprise and admiration for Aurier’s efforts.
It seems that some Spurs fans want to see more from Aurier in the white of Tottenham, while others felt the level of opposition means there’s little to be taken from Aurier’s performance.
