‘Wow’…Tam McManus makes ‘weak’ claim about Celtic last night, proven completely wrong

One thing I have learned about supporting Celtic over the duration of my lifetime is to never get too confident and never, ever, write them off. No matter what.

And last night, when the Celtic team lines came out, there was a worry that with the team missing Cameron Carter-Vickers, Brendan Rodgers’ side might be in for a long night.

However, Tam McManus went a step further with his analysis of the starting lineup. In fact, I would go as far as to say that the former Hibs man went a wee bit overboard with his criticism of the Celtic team.

McManus posted on social media channel , “As weak a team/squad as I’ve seen Celtic put out in a long time in the CL. Wow”

I mean, apart from the exclusion of Carter-Vickers, that’s as strong a lineup as the Celtic manager could have put out against Feyenoord considering the injury issues Rodgers needs to deal with.

Like I said earlier, you never write Celtic off. The Hoops have risen from adversity before in Europe. We all remember the side that infamously beat Barcelona 2-1 in 2012?

At the back, Celtic had Efe Ambrose and Kelvin Wilson. Miku (who’s he?) started up front and was then replaced by an unknown Tony Watt and we all know what happened next.

So whilst I can understand McManus’s post Celtic always have a chance in Europe at home. Regardless of who starts. And to be honest, he should know that having covered the Scottish game for a number of years.

The win against Feyenoord puts Celtic on four points but Rodgers’ team still remains bottom of Group E. In a campaign that surely must be full of regret for the Hoops gaffer, there were signs last night that this team is ready for a fight.

They are ready for what’s coming next and they need to be. Rangers visit Celtic Park soon and nothing but a win will be acceptable in the eyes of the Hoops’ support.

In other news, Arne Slot was absolutely fuming with what the officials did at Celtic last night
