‘Would definitely make it in the Prem’, ‘infuriating’: Some fans react to Celtic man’s display for his country
Celtic midfielder Ryan Christie was the matchwinner for Scotland on Monday night, but his display saw a mixed reaction from a number of fans on social media.
The Hoops ace was named in Steve Clarke’s starting XI for the UEFA Nations League meeting against a much-changed Czech Republic side in Olomouc.
Although the hosts took the lead in the 11th minute through Jakub Pesek, Lyndon Dykes equalised on 27 minutes with his first Scotland goal on just his second appearance.

Christie then put Scotland ahead in the 52nd minute, scoring his second penalty in two games for the eventual winner after Andy Robertson had been fouled.
Although the visitors won 2-1 to go top of their group, the Czechs had several opportunities to get back into the game, with Marek Havlik and Antonin Rusek hitting the woodwork.
And despite Christie getting the winning goal, he did come in for some criticism due to his play, which at times was perceived as greedy.
One such example came in the 86th minute, when the 25-year-old bore down on goal with Callum McGregor in a great position, but he held on the ball too long and the opportunity vanished.
Here is some of the reaction to Christie’s display on social media:

Always is he’s great but frustrating in equal measure

Always is to be honest. Talented lad but it’s definitely an area he needs to work on.

Ryan Christie is very good but he’s the most infuriating player ever 🥴
— Andy Young (@AndyYoung90)
Yup. Thought that a couple of times last night. There’s huge potential there though
— Bryan (@Somewhataldente)
When he’s good he’s unstoppable but tonight again made some very poor choices in possession, passing and distribution. Poor start to the season.
