‘Would be perfect’: Pundit urges Tottenham to sign forward who scored 17 goals last season

Jason Cundy says that Tottenham should consider trying to sign Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy as he believes he would suit them perfectly.

Vardy, 34, is a Foxes legend that has already marked his name into Premier League history. His goal at the weekend takes his tally to 119 in the top flight.

The English centre-forward scored 17 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions last season, so continues to deliver year on year despite his age.

His game his based on pure pace, aggression and desire.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side kickstarted their league season with an amazing 1-0 win over Manchester City on Sunday and the speed of their attackers stood out clearly. Heung-Min Son, Steven Bergwijn and Lucas Moura were so fluid with their movement.

As a result, pundit Cundy says Spurs should look at Vardy as a transfer target this summer amid speculation about Harry Kane’s future.

“If they are going to go in a different direction, I would consider looking at Jamie Vardy, because of the way that Spurs played at the weekend,” Cundy told .

“If they want to press and a counter-attack style of football, who is the best in the business up top?”

“He keeps surprising people, he’s a fit boy, doesn’t have international football, he’s a winner, knows how to win a title, knows how to win a cup and scores goals for fun.

“I think that he would be perfect for Spurs.”

Jamie Vardy to Spurs seems a ridiculous suggestion

You can’t 100 per cent categorically rule anything out in football. However, Vardy leaving the King Power Stadium has got to be up there with one of the most unlikeliest things to happen during the final couple of weeks of the transfer window.

The striker is a Leicester icon that remains a key player in Brendan Rodgers’ XI, so it seems unimaginable that he would leave.

Meanwhile, Spurs have a huge job on their hands trying to find someone in Kane’s mould, if the England captain goes.
