Chris Sutton that he feels Tottenham Hotspur boss Nuno’s comments after the North London Derby were ‘worrying’.

Nuno’s concerning comments

Nuno came out and spoke honestly after Tottenham were beaten 3-1 against Arsenal at the weekend.

He said that he had made mistakes in his game plan, which caused Spurs to capitulate in the first-half.

But Sutton found it concerning that Nuno was so willing to take the blame for the defeat.

He said: “He’s been put in an incredibly difficult situation, there’s no doubt about that.

“But Nuno’s comments blaming himself after the Arsenal game were worrying, and blaming the players as well.

“There were players not running back, unsure about what jobs they were being asked to do. They were a complete and utter shambles. I don’t think Spurs fans will ever get the type of football they want under Nuno. Chuck in the Kane stuff as well and it’s turning into a bit of a nightmare.

“The appointment simply didn’t fit and that’s on [chairman] Daniel Levy.”

Under pressure

The concern among Tottenham fans too is that Nuno cannot deliver the attract football that he has promised.

There were always fears that the Portuguese boss was an ill-fit for Spurs, even when he first took charge, and he has done little to convince his doubters that he is the right man.

Nuno has, at times, tried to promote an attacking style but that has caused Tottenham to simply look far too vulnerable defensively.

Spurs have now conceded nine goals in their last three Premier League matches, and they have hardly been a huge attacking threat during that time either.

Tottenham are one of the lowest scorers in the top flight, having hit the back of the net just four times in six games.

If things don’t turn around dramatically it is difficult to see how Nuno holds on to his job, with the pressure now really ramping up on the Spurs boss.
