Worrall must kick on and win fans over with no prospect of Nottingham Forest return

Steven Gerrard has confirmed that defensive loanee Joe Worrall will remain at Rangers for the remainder of the season,

They Gerrard as saying: “We’ve spoken to Nottingham Forest. They had up until January 7 to call Joe back and we never heard anything so Joe will remain until the end of the season.

“He’s a player who has done really, really well for us. I thought he was excellent in the Old Firm game. So he’ll stay with us.

“Forest haven’t made any request. They’ve said that they’ve been really happy with the job we’ve done with him. So that was nice to hear.”

Worrall is an immensely talented young defender but he has struggled to settle at Rangers and produced some patchy performances.

Perhaps he had one eye on a mid-season return to Forest but now that prospect is off the table, he needs to focus on his football and produce the kind of display he put in during the Old Firm game on a consistent basis.

He and Connor Goldson are capable of forming the bedrock of a title push and now is the time for Worrall to show that quality and win over the fans.
