‘World class’ player opts to sign for Cesc Fabregas after claims Arsenal want to sign him

Arsenal remain in the transfer market for further reinforcements ahead of deadline day on August 30.

So far, The Gunners have signed Riccardo Calafiori and are closing in on Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino.

Mikel Arteta was looking at an attacker earlier in the window but links to Nico Williams and Victor Gyokeres have since gone quiet.

A free agent was also identified but now he’s set to sign for Cesc Fabregas…

Sergi Roberto set to sign for Como

Arsenal made contact with Sergi Roberto, labelled as ‘world class’ per , last month following the expiry of his contract at La Liga giants Barcelona.

Arteta was eager to find out what Roberto’s plans were and it was thought, at the time, that he was keen on a move to the Premier League.

But, according to Dutch outlet , he’s now chosen Fabregas’ Como as his next destination, snubbing interest from The Gunners, Ajax and West Ham United, to name a few.

The newly promoted Serie A side added Raphael Varane to their ranks earlier in the window, so evidently they’re really going for it.

Arsenal focusing on outgoings

At this stage, Arsenal appear to be more focused on getting players out of the door.

Eddie Nketiah is attracting interest from Nottingham Forest whilst Aaron Ramsdale continues to be touted around to a number of clubs across the Premier League.

Wolves are one of the clubs keen on Ramsdale and could offer Daniel Bentley as part of a swap deal.

Arsenal submitted a bid for Bentley earlier in the window, so it could be a proposal that entices them, especially considering it’d be an immediate replacement for the former Sheffield United shot-stopper.

A busy nine days remain of the window…
