‘World class player’… Brennan Johnson says £22m Tottenham teammate is just ridiculous

Brennan Johnson has lauded Tottenham Hotspur skipper Heung-min Son as a ‘world-class’ player.

Heung-min Son returned from the Asian Cup last week and was named among the substitutes as Tottenham beat Brighton 2-1.

It was a moment of real quality from Son which ultimately handed Spurs all three points.

Ange Postecoglou’s men had trailed heading into halftime but after Pape Matar Sarr levelled things up just after the hour mark, Son linked up with Brennan Johnson for a stoppage-time winner.

A sweeping move down the left-hand side ended with the South Korean star delivering an inch-perfect ball across the box for Johnson to tap home.

Johnson spoke to after the game and lauded Son following his return to action.

Johnson says Son is ‘world-class’

Johnson raved about Son after the 31-year-old popped up with a crucial assist in the dying moments of Saturday’s game.

“He’s a world-class player,” the Welshman said. “I don’t think he needs me to tell anyone how good he is, I think he has shown it for the last 10 years playing at Tottenham.

“Everyone knows how good a player he is and I don’t think there’s many players in the world who can hit a left foot pass basically onto my foot and give me a free goal, that just shows his class.”

It will be a huge boost for Ange Postecoglou to have his talisman back ahead of a crucial run of games.

Son leads the way when it comes to goals for Tottenham this term as he’s netted 12 times in the league.

But an often underrated area of his game is his creativity in the final third.

The Spurs skipper has already registered six assists this season and Postecoglou’s side have missed his quality down then left-hand side in recent weeks.
