‘World class’: Lijnders thinks rarely used Liverpool man is ‘one of the world’s best finishers’

Liverpool coach Pepijn Lijnders spoke about Divock Origi yesterday ahead of his side’s Carabao Cup clash against Preston North End.
Almost every news about the Reds has been dominated by Mo Salah and his brilliance since the start of the season. He is undoubtedly the best player in the world at the moment and his finishing has been remarkable.
However, Salah isn’t the only player at Liverpool with world-class finishing. Lijnders believes that Origi, who has barely been used this season, falls into the same bracket, which is a surprise to many neutrals.
The Reds coach has claimed that Origi is ‘one of the best finishers’ in world football and has heaped praise on his attitude in training despite not playing regularly in the Premier League since the start of the season.
Lijnders: Origi is a world-class finisher
He said, as per : “Divock is our top scorer in this [season’s Carabao Cup], I think he’s the club’s top scorer of overseas players in it as well.
“What I like about Taki (Minamino) and Divock is that even when they didn’t get their chance they trained with all they had and that’s why they are in the level they are in at the moment. They look really sharp.
“Divock is one of the world’s best finishers, and we worked with quite a few in different clubs. But he is absolutely a world-class finisher, it’s just to get him in these positions.”

TBR View:
Origi has played just four times in all competitions this season. He is far away from being the first choice at Liverpool, but the Belgian is still very highly rated in and around the club.
The 26-year-old has been a Red for a while now, but he hasn’t really hit the heights that many expected him to. Just 36 goals in 161 Liverpool appearances is not a great record at all, but Lijnders is convinced that he’s a ‘world-class finisher’.
Origi is expected to start against Preston tonight and he will have the opportunity to prove his coach right. A good performance at Deepdale could change his fortunes – either at Liverpool or somewhere else considering that his contract expires at the end of this season.
