“World class”: Leeds United fans react to Marcelo Bielsa links

Leeds United have parted company with manager Paul Heckingbottom and already the Yorkshire side are lining up a potential replacement with Marcelo Bielsa listed as their primary target, according to leading Bilbao news outlet .

The former Argentina manager was in charge of La Albiceleste from 1998 to 2004 and has also enjoyed spells with Chile, Athletic Bilbao, Marseille, Lazio and Lille.

sees him leave the club after only a matter of months, with his February arrival cut short after the club finished a disappointing 13th in the Championship.

A tactical enforcer, Bielsa would give Leeds a completely transformed approach with his unusual 3-3-1-3 formation he has utilised with many of his previous sides.

The 62-year-old has a wealth of experience and a changed look for the Whites is in desperate need.

Leed’s current biggest weakness still lies in the defence and the tactical discipline employed by Biesla could see the Yorkshire side shave off some of the 64 league goals they conceded last season.

Once described by as “one of the best”, the Manchester City boss told : “I wish I had been his player and he would have trained me.”

Leeds supporters may best remember the Argentine boss for his role as manager in eliminating England from the 1998 World Cup in France.

Often described as a video obsessive, who spends hours and hours studying matches, the former Marseille manager may be the breath of fresh air Elland Road needs if the club are to challenge for promotion next season.

Despite his previous spell with Lille only lasting a disappointing five months, there is a feel-good factor surrounding the link with the Argentine.
