‘World class’… Kai Havertz left blown away by £12m Arsenal player against Newcastle

Arsenal goalscorer Kai Havertz has now been praising one of his teammates following yesterday’s brilliant win against Newcastle United.

If there was any fear of a European hangover for Mikel Arteta’s side, then concern was quickly dissipated given how well Arsenal started the game.

Arteta had his side pressing intently from the off, which was yielding rich rewards from Newcastle’s defence, which did look overwhelmed.

Captain Martin Odegaard was instrumental in his work, leading the press so intelligently from the front – an underappreciated side of his game.

And with Arsenal winning possession high up the pitch as a result, the likes of Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz were able to receive the ball in incredibly dangerous areas near the Newcastle goal.

Havertz, who came away from the game with a goal and an assist, could have perhaps been named as player of the match himself.

However, given just how brilliant Jorginho was, controlling the game in the middle and distributing the ball, the Italian deservedly won the award.

And when speaking to after the game, Havertz was full of compliments for his teammate.

Kai Havertz says he loves playing with Arsenal teammate Jorginho after Newcastle win

Speaking shortly after full-time, Havertz said he has a special connection with Jorginho considering their time at Chelsea together too.

Havertz said: “I know him a lot, a long time now, so for me it’s always nice to play with him.

“I know him very well, he knows me very well, so it makes life very easy for me.

“He’s a world-class player & he showed it again today.”

Of course, it really was another feel good night for Arsenal against Newcastle, and Havertz will be delighted his side were able to recover so well from the FC Porto disappointment.

The performance, again ladened with goals and chances, bodes very well for Porto’s trip to the Emirates in a couple of weeks time.

Arsenal will need to overcome a one nil deficit, so it’s good news they’ve now scored 15 goals in their last three Premier League games.

All that being said, Declan Rice has now admitted he didn’t quite realise how good one Arsenal player was after yesterday’s win.
