Arsenal signed Gabriel Martinelli from Ituano for just £6 million back in 2019 ().
Nobody really knew about the Brazilian back then, but he instantly became a huge fan favourite at the Emirates after a fantastic start to his Arsenal career.
Now, Martinelli is one of the best attackers in the Premier League. He is just an incredible player, but Carlton Cole believes West Ham have someone who’s better than the Arsenal number 11.
After saying Jarrod Bowen is better than Gabriel Jesus, Cole went on to claim that Hammers star Lucas Paqueta is a level above Martinelli.
“On the left, we’ve got Paqueta, who is better than Martinelli. Martinelli don’t even start at the moment,” he said on .
A shocked Jamie O’Hara replied: “Martinelli may be having an average season, but Martinelli is world-class on his day.
“What are you saying? Are you saying that West Ham’s front three is better than Arsenal’s? Honestly, you’re talking garbage. You’re talking garbage!”
Martinelli is one of Arsenal’s best players
People seem to have forgotten how good Arsenal star Gabriel Martinelli really is.
Yes, the 22-year-old has had a difficult season so far, but he is an incredible talent, and he showed just how brilliant he is when he came off the bench and scored a brace against Crystal Palace last weekend.
When Martinelli is fit, there are very few wingers in Europe who are on the same level as him. He is almost impossible to stop when he’s in full flow, and he deserves more praise than he’s getting now.
As for Lucas Paqueta, he is a tremendous player, but if we’re talking about who starts on the left flank, it has to be Martinelli all day long.
