Neil Lennon believes Celtic starlet Mikey Johnston is not quite ready for a senior Scotland call-up. Speaking in a press conference (), Lennon discussed the likelihood of Johnston getting into Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad.
Celtic currently have four players in the Scotland squad: Greg Taylor, James Forrest, Ryan Christie and Callum McGregor. But Lennon was asked if Johnston had a chance of a senior call-up in the near future.

He told the press conference (): “He needs consistency of performance and he needs to play a little bit more before [he gets a senior call-up]. I think he’s been called up to the U21s which is pleasing from his point of view.
“He does bring an extra dimension to the way we play when he’s fit and sharp. We miss him sometimes but he’s a work in progress. We’re delighted with the progress he’s making. In terms of Scotland, maybe just a bit too soon for him yet.”
TBR’s view
There is no rush to elevate Johnston to the top of the game at the moment. The 20-year-old is still young and he is enjoying his football. At the right time, he will make the step up.
His current goal is to nail down a regular starting spot in this Celtic starting line-up and stay fit. From there, he can start knocking on Clarke’s door for a senior call-up.
