Wolves should target Cornet after recent Champions League exploits

Wolverhampton Wanderers should consider a January move for Olympique Lyonnais star Maxwel Cornet.

The Frenchman bagged a brace against Manchester City at Groupama Stadium in the 2-2 draw, after scoring once in the reverse fixture on matchday one.

But he’s made full use of his game time in the Champions League, specifically against Pep Guardiola’s City.

Despite his impressive showing on Tuesday, Cornet is out-of-favour at Lyon. He’s made eight appearances in Ligue 1 but no starts.

He has managed to score six goals for the club in 2018/19, and perhaps Wolves are a side that should stand up and take note.

Cornet needs a change of environment, Wolves could be perfect

At the moment, Nuno Espirito Santo’s Wolves are struggling to score goals in the Premier League.

They’ve hit just three goals in their last five league outings.

Raul Jimenez is carrying a big burden at the moment and needs some support from the wingers, which he isn’t getting.

Helder Costa and Diogo Jota are both yet to get off the mark in the Premier League, and it looks as though the wide men aren’t currently pulling their weight.

Cornet showed against Manchester City that he does have an eye for goal – he perhaps just needs a change of environment in order to show that more consistently.
