Wolves are right to target Andre Silva as Gonzalo Higuain makes way
Gonzalo Higuain is the man who steps aside at Juventus to make way for Cristiano Ronaldo. AC Milan have paid an initial £16 million to bring the Argentine to the club on loan with an option to buy for £32 million at the end of the season, meaning the deal is worth around £48 million monetary. Former Juventus captain Leonardo Bonucci has also gone the other way as part of the deal.
Two years ago Juventus, so it is a massive deal to move him on.
With Higuain now at Milan, it frees up Wolverhampton Wanderers to make a move for Portuguese striker Andre Silva. The newly-promoted side have long been linked with a move for the player, who struggled to replicate his form for Porto and Portugal in Italian football.
The 22-year-old is represented by Jorge Mendes’ Gestifute company, which would make facilitating a deal much easier. Wolves are now in the driving seat.
And so they should be. It has been a tough season for Silva. He managed just two league goals last season for the club.
However, he managed eight in 14 in the Europa League and, just 12 months ago,
Signing him permanently would seem too expensive. However, Wolves need another striker for their Premier League push next season with just Raul Jimenez and the goal-shy Leo Bonatini looking like central frontmen for next season.
If Wolves can manage to put a loan deal through, with the help of ‘Uncle Jorge’, then Silva is a player they must pursue this summer.
