Wolves need plan in place following exit of Ivan Cavaleiro

Wolverhampton Wanderers have confirmed the exit of Ivan Cavaleiro, which certainly looks the squad at Molineux looking thin on the ground.

The West Midlands club have confirmed on their that the 25-year-old attacker has joined Fulham on a season-long loan, which includes an option to buy him permanently next year.

He’s dropped down to the Championship with Fulham and will be hoping to rediscover his best form at Craven Cottage.

The Portuguese ace managed just five goals in 29 games across all competitions last season for Wolves and didn’t quite make the desired impact in the top-flight.

But allowing his exit looks a strange decision considering the current size of the squad.

Manager Nuno Espirito Santo needs to have an ace up his sleeve for the new campaign, as without a new arrival the team looks extremely stretched in attack.

Wolves are preparing for a new campaign where they will be looking to build on a seventh-placed finish in the Premier League, while also make an impact in the Europa League.

They usually play with a 3-5-2 formation with Diogo Jota and Raul Jimenez the preferred pair in attack, but there now looks very few options behind them to rotate with.

Helder Costa has departed this summer to join Leeds United, while Cavaleiro is another forward that won’t be around next year at Wolves.

21-year-old Bright Enobakhare could be back in the fold after impressing out on loan with Coventry City last season and he’s shown in glimpses he can make an impact for Wolves.

Meanwhile, Adama Traore could be deployed in a central attacking role, but looks like he’s being moulded into a wing-back.

Nuno can’t hope to get through a long campaign with just three forward options competing for two spots and desperately needs a replacement for Cavaleiro.
