Wolves legend Steve Bull backs ‘proper striker’ Jimenez to surpass Fletcher tally

Wolverhampton Wanderers legend Steve Bull believes Raul Jimenez can easily become the club’s most prolific scorer in the Premier League.

The 54-year-old – who is Wolves’ all-time top scorer with 306 goals – thinks the Mexican has what it takes to surpass the 22 goals of Steven Fletcher in the top-flight.

The £30 million signing from Benfica () has chalked up 15 in the division for the club so far, with 13 of those coming during his loan spell with the club last season.

In the eyes of Bull, it won’t be much longer until Jimenez becomes a record-breaker.

He said, : “He should do that with absolute ease. He’s a player who keeps plugging away. When you work hard, you get your rewards, and he knows that.

“He’s a proper striker, an out and out goalscorer, so I reckon he’ll get there by Christmas, definitely.

“With how he’s going, we could be talking about him breaking the record in a matter of weeks.”

The star has been in great form despite Wolves’ struggles as a collective so far.

As well as his two strikes in the Premier League, he also notched six goals in Europa League qualifying in as many games.

When things start to click for Wolves domestically, then Jimenez will surely become a record-breaker sooner rather than later.
