With Wolves set to offload 25-year-old, should Leeds revive January interest

Wolverhampton Wanderers could be about to axe Ivan Cavaleiro this summer,

The 25-year-old was one of the first signings of Nuno Espirito Santo’s regime at Molineux but is surplus to requirements.

Cavaleiro has started just six games this season and has often been used as a substitute. A move to play frequent first-team football somewhere else seems like a viable option.

Back in January the Portuguese winger very nearly signed for Leeds. Boss Marcelo Bielsa wanted the electric performer to sign on loan until the end of the season,

A deal never came to fruition back then but they might choose to renew their interest during the summer transfer window.

Leeds must go through the lottery of the play-offs if they are to win promotion to the Premier League. Another season in the Championship could make Cavaleiro a stunning acquisition.

Wolves romped to the title last season. Cavaleiro was one of the team’s star performers, netting nine goals and contributing 13 assists.

His arrival at Elland Road would give them an electric burst of pace that they have perhaps lacked at times this season.

With Espirito Santo keen to offload the player he might be available on the cheap and his availability should definitely alert Leeds.
