Wolves fans won’t like it, but Raul Jimenez could become a marked man

Wolverhampton Wanderers may not have beaten Braga in yesterday’s Europa League cup clash, but their 3-3 draw was enough to see them seal progression to the knockout stages.

The Black Country club, who were just finding their feet back in the Premier League this time last year, thrilled supporters with yet another fine display in the competition.

They will now play their final group stage match against Besiktas in the knowledge they are safely through to the round of 32, giving Nuno Espirito Santo the chance to make changes.

One man he may not wish to rest, although he’d be fully deserving, is Raul Jimenez.

The Mexican striker was involved in all three Wolves goals against Braga, scoring one and setting up Adama Traore and Matt Doherty.

Another goal for the £30 million signing () takes him to 15 in all club competitions this season – no Premier League player has more.

For both club and country in 2019, he now has 33 goals and 13 assists which is a truly remarkable return.

TBR’s view – Wolves should brace themselves over brilliant Jimenez

What a player Wolves have on their hands.

In Jimenez, Nuno Espirito Santo really does have a quality player and he would be a fool not to expect any top clubs from around Europe to come calling in one of the next two windows.

The Mexican is rapidly proving himself to be a complete striker.

He clearly isn’t just a flash in the pan – ever since his loan arrival at Molineux in 2018 he has been an absolute breath of fresh air.

Wolves may have only just signed him permanently, but aged 28 Jimenez is now in his prime and it would be the ideal time for a big club to strike.
