Wolves fans request Joao Moutinho is rested against Torino

Wolverhampton Wanderers face Torino on Thursday night in the Europa League – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter have demanded that Joao Moutinho is dropped from the starting XI to give him a rest.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side face Italian opponents at Molineux in the second leg of their Europa League play-off qualifier.

The Premier League outfit won the first meeting out in Italy 3-2 to give them a lead on aggregate and they are just one positive result away from entering the Europa League group stages.

Wolves have won all five of their matches in Europe so far this campaign during qualifiers, while in the Premier League they have drawn their opening three games.

They were held 1-1 at home to Burnley at the weekend and some feel that fatigue is starting to creep in during a busy start to the campaign.

Moutinho has started in all eight competitive matches so far this season and was substituted off in the second-half against Burnley after a performance below his usual standard.

The 32-year-old is an influential central midfielder that is a key player in Nuno’s squad and makes the team tick when he plays well.

He already has five assists in his eight appearances this term, but is the oldest member of the first-team squad and could do with the occasional rest despite his great stamina.

There are certainly plenty of options in the midfield to cope without him, especially with the likes of Romain Saiss and Morgan Gibbs-White pretty fresh.
