Wolves fans discuss Patrick Cutrone’s performance on Twitter after Besiktas win

Wolverhampton Wanderers ended their Europa League group stage campaign on a high with a stunning 4-0 win over Turkish outfit Besiktas on Thursday night ?but Wolves fans felt sympathy for striker Patrick Cutrone.

Cutrone, 21, has struggled at Wolves since joining the club from AC Milan in the summer, after putting pen to paper on a £63,000-a-week deal (). He has scored just three goals in 23 games for the club ?though 14 of those have been as a sub.

The former Milan ace was handed a rare start by Nuno Espirito Santo on Thursday night, with Wolves already having qualified for the knockout stages of the competition. They could finish top of the group, if Braga failed to beat Slavan Bratislava.

It took Wolves until the hour mark, with Cutrone huffing and puffing but failing to find the back of the net. Diogo Jota was introduced, and the rest is history. He scored his first goal in the 58th minute, and completed his hat-trick in the 69th minute.

Leander Dendoncker also got his name on the scoresheet to score Wolves?third, but it was their fourth goal that was arguably the best ?as Cutrone turned on the style with a lovely flick and Oskar Burr provided a stunning assist.

Wolves fans reacted on Twitter to Cutrone’s performance, with the striker likely to be somewhat frustrated that he failed to find the back of the net with Besiktas fielding a very-much weakened side. Most, though, felt sorry for him and that he played well.
