Wolves fans demand Ruben Neves is played further forward

Wolverhampton Wanderers travel to Crystal Palace on Sunday for a huge Premier League fixture – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter have insisted that Ruben Neves should be used in a more offensive role.

The 22-year-old is the deep-lying playmaker in the Wolves team and usually sits at the base of a three-man midfield.

He is a pass master that helps dictate possession from deep and has an incredible range of passing in his locker.

The Portugal international hasn’t quite found his best form so far this campaign and the same could be said for several of his teammates at Molineux.

Wolves are without a win in their opening five Premier League games this season, while they kickstarted their Europa League group in midweek by losing at home to Braga.

The West Midlands outfit need a victory away to Palace on Sunday to help get some points on the board in the league and also to raise confidence in Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad.

A selection of Wolves supporters on social media insist that Neves is playing too deep and would prefer to see him play in a more advanced midfield role.

Romain Saiss or Leander Dendoncker are defensively minded players, who could easily fill his void in front of the defence.

But most of his Wolves career has been spent bossing play from deep and it would be bold to move him now.
