Wolves could target ‘amazing’ £28m striker after claims Newcastle also want to sign him

Wolves could reportedly launch a move to sign PSG striker Hugo Ekitike, with Newcastle United also interested in signing the French youngster.

The 21-year-old attacker has hardly made an impact with the Ligue 1 giants since joining on a permanent deal this summer for £28m, with Ekitike making just one league appearance all season.

As a result, PSG are open to selling the French youth international, with Newcastle one of the many clubs who have been reported with an interest in signing Ekitike this month.

However, , Wolves have now entered the picture for Ekitike, with Gary O’Neil’s side short in the attack after the loan departure of Sasa Kalajdzic to Eintracht Frankfurt.

With Hwang Hee-chan also away this month at the Asian Cup with South Korea, Wolves are in need of some additional firepower via the transfer market.

And with PSG open to selling Ekitike, the 21-year-old could be an ideal signing for Wolves, though Newcastle could have something to say on the matter.

Lauded as ‘amazing’ by French football expert Julien Laurens, it’s clear that Ekitike remains one of the most exciting talents in Ligue 1 despite a severe lack of playing time this season.

And for Wolves, they could face quite the challenge this January in trying to sign the PSG striker, especially if Newcastle remain interested in signing the youngster.

As we know, both clubs want to add to their attacking ranks this month, and Newcastle’s reputation could be more appealing for Ekitike than a move to Wolves.

Moreover, potential European qualification could open the door for Ekitike to join Newcastle on a permanent deal if a loan move is first proposed, with the striker clearly in need of leaving PSG for good.
