‘Without a doubt’ Rangers star linked with Leeds given £25m price tag by former Ibrox man
Leeds reportedly had a bid of £14 million for Ryan Kent turned down by Rangers earlier this season, and the player’s value has risen considerably since then.
That’s the view of former Ibrox midfielder Alex Rae, who has been impressed with the former Liverpool man’s performances.
According to , Rangers “rejected all advances” for the Englishman amid the English Premier League side’s interest.
Kent scored a superb long-distance strike in the 2-1 win against Hibs at Ibrox on Sunday, ensuring that Rangers’ 100% home record for the season stretched to 17 matches.
The 24-year-old has 12 goals in 47 games this season, and impressed on a number of occasions during Steven Gerrard’s side’s run to the Europa League’s last 16.
Speaking on the , ex-Wolves star Rae said: “If (£14 million) is what Leeds were looking to roughly pay, I think he’s gone again. Looking at the stats this year, his performance levels, the European performances.
“I would say 25 plus. Without a doubt. The modern day player? You have a guy who is 24 who has all of his best years ahead of him.
“I just think with the performances, there will be a few people knocking at the door and I think it is a big year.
“We raised certain questions about Ryan Kent in periods through the season in terms of stats.
In his last nine games, he has five goals. He now has 12 goals and 13 assists. He has contributed in 25 goals this season.
“He still has a long way to go, but those are impressive stats.”
Kent will next be in action this weekend when Rangers welcome Celtic to Ibrox in the Scottish Cup fourth round. This fourth meeting of the season between the sides will be followed by a fifth when Celtic return to the same venue on league business on May 2.
