With funds tight, West Ham should consider move for Everton’s Jonjoe Kenny

West Ham United are off the mark in the Premier League.

David Moyes was absent on Sunday for the game against Wolves as a result of having to self-isolate, but his side did the business, romping to an impressive 4-0 win.

There were plenty of great individual performances to speak about, and confidence will be high going into the next game against Everton in the EFL Cup on Wednesday.

But Hammers fans know that one brilliant result does not paper over the cracks.

The club need signings, and with the window closing on October 5, time is of the essence.

Defensive reinforcements are on the agenda for Moyes, especially at centre-back, but right-back is also an area of concern.

Ryan Fredericks has a muscular problem and may face a spell on the sidelines.

Moyes doesn’t have many other options, so perhaps he should raid his old club for Jonjoe Kenny, a player who is reportedly available for transfer.

TBR’s View – Kenny could be shrewd West Ham business

According to , Kenny is up for sale with Everton wanting at least £10 million.

That is decent value for a player that turned out 34 times for Schalke on loan in 2019/20 and regularly came in for praise.

Perhaps enticingly for West Ham, Kenny – who earns £15,000-a-week at Goodison Park () – also played a number of games for the Bundesliga side as a right wing-back, which is a system Moyes is currently using.

If funds are tight as has been reported, Kenny could be a solid, cost-effective pickup.
