‘Winning the race’: Everton closing in on signing £15m star, have beaten three other teams – Romano
Everton are closing in on the signing of Manchester United central midfielder James Garner before the deadline.
Fabrizio Romano says that the Toffees have beaten competition from three different clubs to sign the talented Englishman.
The had reported that talks were progressing well between the Englishman and Everton, as Frank Lampard looks to strengthen his midfield.
The added that Garner was expected to leave before the transfer window closed and that United wanted around £15 million.

Everton close to landing James Garner
Erik ten Hag has a reputation for bringing through young talent from his time at Ajax, and it might have been expected he would do that with Garner.
But despite United’s need for a new central midfielder, it has been clear for a number of weeks now that Garner would be allowed to leave.
Perhaps that is simply to balance the books, as Garner impressed on loan at Nottingham Forest last season and looks deserving of a crack at the Premier League.
Garner is capable of playing as a deep-lying playmaker and controlling games, as well as getting forward to score goals too.
He is a set-piece specialist and that could help Everton win tight matches on its own if he gets his delivery right, especially when Dominic Calvert-Lewin plays.
And if he does move to Everton as now expected, he will learn from one of the Premier League’s best ever central midfielders in Lampard.
