William Gallas says £240k-a-week Arsenal star must ‘be more consistent’
Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has been described by William Gallas as a “maestro” who’s “amazing to watch”, but believes he needs to “be more consistent”.
The Frenchman, who previously captained Arsenal, was speaking to about the Gunners’ success under Mikel Arteta.
Gallas was complimentary of Odegaard, who has finally reached his potential at Arsenal after a tricky spell at Real Madrid. However, he still feels improvements can be made.
“When you have a player like Martin Odegaard, who, for me, is a maestro midfielder and a player who can change games, it’s easier (to succeed),” said Gallas.

“Against Brighton, he was amazing to watch. He was incredible. I just want him to be more consistent.
“If he is until the end of the season, the team will cause problems to their opponents in big games.
“Arteta has brought this desire to the group. Players are fighting for each other.”
Martin Odegaard overall a great player for Arsenal
Odegaard has come a very long way since joining Arsenal, and it’s great to see him reach his incredible potential.
The Norwegian was one of the best youngsters in world football when he joined Real at just 16 years of age in 2015.
He was on their books until 2021, but he only made a few senior competitive appearances for them.
Odegaard also took in four loan spells, including the one at Arsenal that led to the Gunners signing him permanently.
The Gunners reportedly paid just £30million for the 24-year-old, a price tag that could well go down in history as an absolute bargain.
Odegaard has been so important for Arsenal that he recently penned a new long-term contract reportedly worth around £240,000-a-week ().
As for his consistency, his form has wavered a bit at times this season, but part of it was the hip issue that saw him spend some time on the sidelines.
Admittedly, Odegaard wasn’t great against Aston Villa either, but he was far from the only Gunners player who struggled on the day. For the most part, he’s doing very well indeed.
