William Gallas makes Tottenham and Chelsea title claim, teases Arsenal
William Gallas has made a big Premier League title claim on Instagram as Tottenham Hotspur cruised past Manchester City with a 2-0 win – suggesting that a London club will win the league this season, but teased Arsenal.
Despite competing in the Europa League, Spurs have gone up a gear under the guidance of Jose Mourinho. The north Londoners are not only cruising into the Europa League knockout rounds, but sit top of the Premier League.
Arguably their best result of the season came on Sunday, a 2-0 win over Manchester City – though a 6-1 win over Manchester United will have been a close second. It was a big statement to the rest of the league in the title race.
They sit on level points with Liverpool, who smashed Leicester City 3-0 despite fielding a patched-up squad – while Chelsea are in third on 18 points, two behind Spurs and Liverpool. Arsenal are in 12th, and Gallas gave his verdict.
The ex-Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham star also looked ahead to this weekend’s London derby between Mourinho’s old club Chelsea – against his new side Tottenham. He reckons Toby Alderweireld’s injury could be crucial.

Chelsea have seemingly rid themselves of their early issues this season, with the signing of Edouard Mendy removing the issue of Kepa Arrizabalaga between the sticks. Thiago Silva has also shored up the back line.
Spurs, meanwhile, have enormous depth. It allows them to remain very competitive in the Europa League, but fresh for the Premier League. Arsenal, as Gallas says, are some way off it – proving very inconsistent so far.
Tottenham look early favourites to rival Liverpool and Manchester City, if Pep Guardiola’s side can get back up to speed. But there is a very long way to go – with less than a quarter of league games played.
