William Gallas delivers Instagram verdict following Arsenal’s win over Chelsea
William Gallas has delivered a very honest verdict when discussing Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Chelsea on his Instagram story as two of his old sides did battle at The Emirates – which saw the Gunners end a winless run since the start of November.
Arsenal came into the match under enormous pressure after last winning the in the Premier League against Manchester United. Results since then have seen the Gunners slip into 15th place, but a 3-1 win has relieved some of that pressure.
Kieran Tierney’s brilliant run saw Alexandre Lacazette score from the penalty spot, before Granit Xhaka curled a delightful free-kick into the top corner. Bukayo Saka then chipped Edouard Mendy, claiming it was on purpose after the match.
Tammy Abraham scored a late goal, but it was Arsenal’s day and Gallas responded on Instagram. He congratulated Arsenal but rather than praise the Gunners more than that, he criticised Chelsea for what was an off-colour performance.
“Congratulations to Arsenal, they were better than Chelsea in every way,” Gallas said. “Chelsea cannot lose these kinds of matches, especially when they intend to play for the title. There are players who weren’t at the level yesterday.”
TBR’s view – Where can Arsenal realistically finish?
Though they sit in 15th, Arsenal just need to get back to their best, or even near their best and they will start climbing the table. If they can do that, and perform as they did against Chelsea, they can return to the top half of the table.
They currently sit nine points behind north London rivals Tottenham who are in fifth. That is a big gap now, but if Arsenal go on a run, there is no reason why they cannot real Jose Mourinho’s side in and fight for Europa League football.
