Will Roma’s Radja Nainggolan complete a summer switch to Manchester United?

Italian newspaper  report that Manchester United have offered AS Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan a £125,000 per week contract to see him move to England this summer.

It remains unclear as to whether the club have held talks with the Italian outfit, but United will clearly be looking to agree a fee with them before progressing with the deal.

What would he bring to Old Trafford?

An influential midfielder, Nainggolan reinvented himself in the 2016/17 season to add a more attacking element to his game, scoring 14 goals in 53 games. Many of those came from a more advanced position than previously seen.

The Belgian boasts great creativity and the ability to pick out an incisive pass which can cut through defences. A good finisher too, he has all the necessary attributes to be a success.

Off the ball, he is equally as strong as he possesses impressive strength and is far from afraid to put in a strong tackle to break up play as the opposition look to hit his team on the counter.

Is a move likely?

Nainggolan has long been linked with a move away from Italy and has previously been linked with Chelsea, but he is yet to leave the Italian capital. With three years left on his contract, Roma are under no obligation to sell.

However, they have once again failed to compete with Juventus at the top end of Serie A or in cup competitions, crashing out of Copa Italia, the Champions League and the Europa League. Now, Nainggolan could look to compete for silverware elsewhere.

With AC Milan and Inter Milan both investing in their squads this summer, with Napoli also challenging Juve, the midfielder may look to get out of the club before the task gets even tougher next summer.
