Will Manchester City sign Real Madrid’s Toni Kroos during the summer window?
Transfer rumours and speculation are really picking up pace and the most notable rumour to come out recently is that linking Germany midfielder Toni Kroos to English club Manchester City, as reported by . It would be a remarkable transfer for the club and player, and it would be a big step for Pep Guardiola in continuing to build his City side.
The ex-Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager has made several high-profile signings in his short period at the Manchester club, including the likes of winger Leroy Sane and midfielder Ilkay Gundogan. Toni Kroos would be another big signing as Pep Guardiola looks to add further quality to his midfield.
Yaya Toure has signed a new contract, while Fernandinho looks set to be made into a right-back and Ilkay Gundogan continues to regain his fitness. Buying Kroos would give City a world class ball-player, who is a clear upgrade on their current options.
The German has been an important part of the Real Madrid side that has had much success in recent years, both domestically and in Europe. Since joining Los Blancos in July 2014, the 27-year-old has won the La Liga once and Champions League twice, and alongside Luka Modric, he has looked one of the best in the world.
Under the management of Pep Guardiola, a move to The Citizens has become increasingly attractive for any player, and if Kroos were to move to Manchester, it would see him and Guardiola reunited. The pair spent time a short while together at Bayern Munich before the 27-year-old moved to Madrid.
The German international would be a perfect fit in this City midfield. A competent passer and dribbler, whilst also chipping in with a fair few goals, Kroos would be an ideal replacement for an ageing Toure, whose long and successful period at the Manchester club looks to be coming to an end.
If City were to pull off this signing, it would represent a fantastic piece of business and certainly make them stronger ahead of next season.
