Wigan defender Reece James is one to watch for Leeds

Leeds United host Wigan Athletic on Friday night in the Championship, as they look to edge closer towards the Premier League.

The Whites currently occupy an automatic promotion spot in the league table and are three points above third-placed Sheffield United with four games remaining.

They could take another giants stride towards the top flight if they win at Elland Road on Friday night.

Leeds beat Wigan 2-1 away in the previous meeting this season, but there are no easy games in the Championship.

Wigan sit just above the drop zone and are battling relegation, which is why their draw with leaders Norwich City last weekend highlighted the unpredictability of the division.

Leeds can wrap up three points if they play their natural game and get on the front foot, but need to be wary of some threats from their upcoming opponents.

Reece James is someone that Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa needs to take not of, as he’s been the outstanding individual for Wigan this campaign.

He’s been a revelation during his season-long loan spell from Premier League giants Chelsea and is really coming to the fore in the fight for survival.

The 19-year-old is a right-back by trade that has excellent attacking quality and if he slots into that position could have a fascinating battle with Leeds full-back Ezgjan Alioski.

But James can also be used at centre-back or has shown in recent weeks he’s capable of playing in a defensive midfield role too.

The England Under-20 international is extremely composed on the ball and can be a driving force for Wigan.

James is a set-piece specialist too that previously scored against Leeds with a free-kick earlier in the season and the Yorkshire giants need to try nullify his threat.
