Why William Saliba will not miss Arsenal’s next Champions League game despite red card
William Saliba has picked up a three-match ban after receiving a straight red card in Arsenal’s 2-0 defeat against Bournemouth on Saturday.
The result – which leaves Arsenal third in the Premier League – seemed to be an inevitability given how eඣarly the Frenchman was dismissed, as Rob Jones brandished a red card in just the 30th minute.

Conversely, any straight red card received in a European fixture is only applicable to the next three European outings, and does not apply domestically.
Therefore, Saliba, who is now rated above Virgil van Dijk, will be able to play in Arsenal’s next game despite his red card on Saturday, due to the fact it comes against Sha♚khtar Donetsk in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.
