Why Tottenham must invest now to avoid missing chance for success

Tottenham Hotspur have been on the cusp of silverware for years, despite a desire to not invest heavily in transfers.

Daniel Levy is renowned for running a tight financial ship, and football fans have his thriftiness to thank for the years of amusement wheeler-dealer Harry Redknapp brought us from his car window on transfer deadline day.

Despite the lack of funds available compared to the clubs around them, Spurs have played some fantastic football in recent years, and continue to grow in stature as a club.

With a new stadium on the horizon to match a fantastic crop of talent, now is a great time to be a follower of the club.

The worrying part is that Spurs have been on the cusp for so long. They ran Leicester close in 2016, but it’s been going on 11 years since they last won a trophy.

With Harry Kane regularly , the Londoners could suddenly lose a flood of goals in an instant.

As seen with the departure of Gareth Bale, the loss of a world class player hits hard. Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen, and Mousa Dembele are all in the final year of their respective contracts and could depart this summer, and with no money spent in the previous transfer window, the question is remains: can Spurs replace key players?

Daniel Levy must act quickly to give Mauricio Pochettino the funds he needs to add the finishing touches to a top class squad, or risk missing out on what could be a purple patch in the club’s rich history.
