Why Tottenham can help Arsenal in their reported pursuit of Ben White

Arsenal remain intent on luring Brighton defender Ben White to The Emirates this summer. The England ace is expected to be the subject of a third offer from the Gunners in due course. But Arsenal may find that Tottenham could hand them a boost in signing White – in Joe Rodon.

White, 23, has been the subject of two offers from Arsenal this summer. Now, the Gunners are set to table a third bid with Brighton wanting £50million, It comes after another brilliant season for White, having first caught attention during a loan at Leeds.

He starred for the Seagulls last season, despite playing in numerous positions. Arsenal are being linked with a move for the defender, who remains a part of Gareth Southgate’s side. But Tottenham could help Arsenal by agreeing a loan exit of one of their Euro 2020 players.

How can Tottenham help Arsenal sign White?

Like any big transfer, Brighton will want a replacement through the door or at least in the pipeline before sanctioning White’s exit. It would be foolish to let him go, and then look to sign a player because clubs will instantly raise their asking price – knowing that Brighton have cash to spend.

So, Brighton need a replacement before letting White go and that is where Tottenham come in. Rodon was one of Wales’ best players at Euro 2020, as they reached the last 16 before being knocked out by Denmark. that Graham Potter is considering a loan for Rodon at Brighton.

Of course, Potter was a target for Spurs before they appointed Nuno Espirito Santo. But £15million () Rodon could still link up with Potter at Brighton – with the Seagulls eyeing a loan. Allowing Rodon to join Brighton on a temporary basis will give Brighton the cover they need for White.

So, if Tottenham allow Rodon to join Brighton – that in turn hands Arsenal the boost they need to secure a move for White.
