Why Newcastle should be worried with Leicester sniffing around Rafa Benitez as Claude Puel’s replacement
Leicester City sacked Claude Puel on Sunday, one day after they suffered an embarrassing 4-1 defeat at home against Crystal Palace.
The fans had grown discontent with Puel’s conservative style of play and now they have a chance to find a new manager.
, Leicester had been sounding out a swoop for Newcastle United’s Rafa Benitez before Puel was sacked.
Benitez has previously grumbled about a lack of investment and ambition from Newcastle.
So these rumours should be worrying Newcastle fans because Benitez might be tempted to Leicester with the lure of spending money.
The Foxes have a strong core squad and Benitez would be armed with a sizeable war-chest next season, compared to what he would have at Newcastle.

In January, Benitez was backed by the late arrival of Miguel Almiron for a club-record fee so that could help keep him at the club.
But the Magpies will need to continue showing ambition with spending so that the Spaniard does not think he has taken the club as far as he can go.
Benitez has done an impressive job at St James’ Park and fans will be desperate to see him stay.
Newcastle supporters will be hoping that Leicester move for Brendan Rodgers instead to put the Benitez speculation to bed.
